About Jan Carew
Jan Rynveld Carew led a rich and varied life as a writer, educator, philosopher, and advisor to several nation states. He was born and educated in Guyana, and studied at Howard University, Western Reserve University, Charles University in Prague, and the Sorbonne in Paris. In London he lectured on race and worked as broadcaster, writer, and editor with the BBC.
Jan Carew's novels and nonfiction books and media include a multitude of books, plays, poetry, articles, reviews, essays, films, audiotapes, and stories, including:

As a scholar and academic, Jan taught at many universities, including the University of London, Princeton, Rutgers, Illinois Wesleyan, Hampshire College, Northwestern, University of Louisville and Lincoln University. He resided in Mexico, England, France, Spain, Ghana and Canada.
Jan passed away at home with family in Louisville, Kentucky on December 5, 2012 at the age of 92.
